St. George,
Utah Information
St.
George is located in the southwest corner of Utah and with
an elevation of 2,860 feet above sea level. The average annual
temperature is approximately 61° with an average annual rainfall of 8.3 inches which make for hot summers and extremely mild winters. St.
George is known as a winter haven for what the 50,000+ locals
like to call "Snow Birds" (tourists who come to St.
George to warm up away from the winter temperatures of the north).

The Arts:
St. George has truly become a center for entertainment. The
Tuacahn Center for the Arts near Snow Canyon State Park is a 25
million dollar facility and home to famous outdoor musical dramas
and concerts. The Zion Canyon Cinemax Theater (IMAX Film) near
Zion National Park offers two films; one film highlights the story
of Zion National Park and surrounding region. A very substantial
schedule of concerts, plays, art-shows and more are offered through
the city, Dixie College and private groups.
The St. George City Art Museum stages exhibits year-round featuring
fine regional artists as well as traveling exhibits of national
and international merit. Several excellent art shows are held
at different venues during the year.
Dixie College:
The cultural heart of St. George is Dixie College. This comprehensive
community college has more than 7,000 students. The college is
the catalyst for many of the great events and activities visitors
enjoy, including the Southwest Symphony, the Celebrity Concert
Series, the Rotary Bowl and other sports events, festivals, concerts,
and tours. The college runs one of the most popular Elderhostel

The religious base in St. George today is quite diverse including:
Assembly of God, Baptist, Catholic, Christian (General), Christian
Science, Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Episcopalian,
Jehovah's Witness, Lutheran, Methodist, Presbyterian, Seventh
Day Adventist.
